The Constitution as a Guide?

I have just seen again, in a Townhall comments a post from someone with the handle of "killer," who thinks that the Constitution is a living document and therefore is to be used merely as a guide.
I want to put that nonsense to rest once and for all. The founding fathers knew only too well how easily the masses can be enflamed and swayed efither by popular opinion of the day or by a smooth talking politician like Obama. That is why the founders made it so difficult for the Constitution to be amended. It is to be used not as a flexible guide, but as a rule book, much as Parlimentary procedures with its strict rules, or as court proceedings that follow certain traditional observances.

Unfortunately, liberals have long ago figured out how to circumvent that "troublesome document" by going through the judicial system. It's called legislating from the bench, or judicial activism. Whatever it's called it's unconstitutional. But that has never stopped liberals from treating our founding fathers as if they were so many "dead white men", therefore, their document must be just as dead. Liberalism wants to liberate the American people from having to be tied to a lot of old, outdated, irrelevant Western World morals and values. They pooh-pooh Christianity because of the belief that we are all born sinners. They believe this is a ridiculous out-moded concept which has no place in today's world.

In truth, it is people like the "killer" who are the foolish ones; they who think that their superior intellect and compassion has somehow made them the ultimate decision makers of how we Americans should live and die. First of all, they seem not to know or understand that the majority of Americans are 'doers' not victims. The majority of us are independent people who prefer NOT to have the government simpering and fussing over us and telling us how to live our lives because we are too stupid or too lazy to figure out how to survive on our own. We are tired of the minority lording it over the majority. You cannot long deny the majority without causing chaos and distruption of society (though that is precisely the aim of Obama and his Marxist minions). If most liberals and "progressives" and "moderates" knew just how useful they are to Obama and his worshippers, they would no doubt feel foolish. How long do you think real freedom loving, independent Americans will endure being brow-beaten by so many ridiculous minority demands that cost more and more trillions of dollars that keep the printers going 24/7? Do they believe that we will stand by and let you rob our grandchildren of their future? Do you believe that we will just let you make them slaves of a socialist regime who believes that wealth and ownership of property are inherently evil?

It is you "compassionate" bleeding-heart liberals who do more damage to our society in one year than any terrorists could do in a hundred years. You kill the incentive to excell in life. You give to people, in the name of equal justice, everything they need to live comfortably. These people could very easily be doing for themselves what the rest of us require ourselves to do. You have given so much to the "poor" that today they have a standard of living much higher than the average European working class family. Yet, you continue to claim that the "poor" are increasing. Where do they come from?

How about that neat trick you have of raising the poverty level each year so that now poverty means any earning less than $10,830 for a single person to $37,010 for a family of 8. (Google what income is considered poverty level?) You liberals create the problems and then you blame conservatives for trying to get America back on track. We want to get more people involved in schools, jobs, neighborhood well-being. But that will never happen as long as the government takes away all incentive to do anything but await their government checks each month. We want less government interference, less government handouts, with all the attendant strings attached, and we want to be free to solve our own problems. We want to get back to the days when the churches, charities, and the generosity of our neighbors gave the poor a helping hand and watched them become independent of all charities. These people could then hold their heads high and claim that they made it on their own. We want much more of our income to be free of confiscatory taxes so we can spend it on what makes us happy, not someone else! Cold-hearted and selfish? To you who do not understand how the economy in America is supposed to work, yes, it appears that is the case; but to you who always claim your intellect is so superior, think about it for a minute.
The more the working class people have to spend, (less taxes) the better it is for the economy. Capitalism is a self-energizing system that depends on the "individuals" in society to create wealth; NOT ON THE GOVERNMENT TO CREATE WEALTH. The government cannot create wealth except by printing more and more money. Those who understand how money works know that the creation of too much money devalues it to the point where it buys less and less. Letting the public set the prices and the private business to set the amount of goods and services based on supply and demand will provide needed goods at prices people are willing to pay.  It is the only way that a capitalist society can be productive. Although I seem to have drifted off subject, it all ties together.

Although we have a few bad apples in the system, as in anywhere else, it doesn't mean that the system is bad. Only a fool throws the baby out with the bathwater!
Today, the government has killed all incentive for many people to get involved in society, to go to work, or to be a productive member of their neighborhoods. Instead, they wait on the government checks and shuffle through life with no purpose at all. I would call that cruel and unusual punishment. Nonetheless, you liberals think you are actualy helping people! Isn't it amazing how blind some people can be when they believe, like religious zealots, in an ideology, and not in reality.

Letter to all Republican Senators

Today I wrote this letter and emailed it to 40] Senators.  Three were unavailable.  Wayne Allard, and John Sunnunu's terms were ended in January this year, and Richard Lugar does not accept emails from out of state Republicans?  I don't care what state these Senators represent, they represent all of America and I feel it is our duty to let them how we feel about issues important to us.  This is  the letter I sent:

I am a concerned citizen who is troubled by the nomination of judge Sotomayor to the Supreme Court of the United States.  I do not believe she is qualified as to judicial temperament nor as to her skill as an interpreter of the law (to wit: 60% reversals in the Supreme Court).  She represents a potential for divisiveness in the country at a time of chaos in both our economic and political lives.  I believe president Obama chose judge Sotomayor specifically for her propensity to favor a specified sector of society regardless of the merits of the case or the rights of those who are discriminated against (e.g. Ricci v DeStefano). It is also very troubling to discover the pains she went through to hide her decision so her colleagues would not discover it.

If we are to maintain our freedoms and liberties, we must have a judicial system peopled with honorable and intelligent people who will interpret the Constitution as the framers intended it to be read and who do not discriminate on the basis of skin color, economic circumstances, religious beliefs, sex, or sexual orientation, or any other modern day social designations.  The idea of a balanced and “representative” Supreme Court suggests that we are, in fact, a country of distinct groups based on ethnicity instead of One Country Under God.  If the judiciary is allowed to decide cases, on even one of these criteria, then it stands to reason all other ethnicities are, de facto, discriminated against. I am concerned that the blindfold of Justice will be ripped off and discarded.

I hear the arguments that her confirmation will not change the composition of the court.  And I understand there are no specific qualifications enumerated by the Founding Fathers regarding SCOTUS nominations.  Perhaps not, but common sense should still prevail.  I believe affirming Sotomayor will set a devastating precedence in future Supreme Court selections.

I think she deserves her day in court, and I believe this vetting process will, in the end, prove to be a defining moment in our country.  It will, I believe, decide if we are hereafter going to be a country that yearns for justice for individuals through rule of law, or are we to be a country that seeks justice for individuals based on their affiliations through some flexible system of arbitrary laws based on empathy?

Who decides on what our status in life is?  By what system will we be judged?  We have already seen how so many new auto dealerships have been closed down while others remain open due to someone's empathetic and arbitrary decision.  Rumors abound they were closed down because they did not support the Obama campaign.  True or not, it's just another method that president Obama is using to divide and conquer our country.  I am, of course, referring to Abraham Lincoln's statement about a house divided that cannot stand.

I only ask that that you too use the scales of justice and keep the blindfold on.  Do not vote on the basis of race, color, social status, compelling personal stories, sex, or any other so-called qualifiers not related to good sound judicial choice.

Thank you for listening to my concerns.

Thank you for your service.
